Why coaching might be the right approach for you.

There are times within our lives when we are stuck on a way forward or know we need to do something but there are barriers.

It can be easy to ask others for advise, and can be helpful too. Mentoring has a strong place in our careers or lives, we can learn a lot from other people’s approaches, lessons and guidance.

However, have you ever been told exactly what you should do about something, agreed with it wholeheartedly but then not done it?

The benefit to the coaching approach is that no one will tell you what to do. You will decide. You are the driving force. The coach may steer at times, but will often be a passenger, observing, asking questions, putting a hand on your shoulder and giving you the support and affirmation you might need to keep going. The benefit of you being in charge, is you already know deep down the approaches that work for you. You know the barriers in your way, you may find it hard to see past them, but coaching can help worth through why this is, and find a way through.

Goals and actions are tangible ways to step forward. They are clear, and before you know it you’ve achieved the first steps and you move on to the next. Objectively, this is a helpful approach to getting through difficulties and helps with things feeling less overwhelming.

Coaching also does not have to be long term at all. You work on your goal and then you move on. Of course you can go back to a trusted coach in the future, but you aren’t committed financially for long periods of time.

In the workplace, if you are a manager or leader, you may have a staff member who you see great potential in, but they are struggling with a part of their role or low in confidence. Coaching can be such a positive way of improving performance and workplace resilience. The staff member finds their way through, and you retain a quality employee that pays dividends for your company.

My website has lots of information on coaching, and do check out my other blog posts too.

I always offer a free consultation, and am happy to answer any questions you may have.
